Oman: the cultural heritage

Oman adopted Islam in the 7th century, during the lifetime of the prophet Muhammad. Oman is currently the only country with a majority Ibadi population. The Portuguese took Muscat on 1 April 1515, and held it until 26 January 1650. Learn more about: Oman and the Portuguese.
